The events of Parihaka

WALT: To summarise information and give my opinion

My opinion about the events of Parihaka
I find Te Whiti and Tohu Kakahi inspirational because even though both of them went to prison for 19 years they still believed in the spirit of non-violence.
I think the leaders advocated non-violence because they had made the Treaty of Waitangi and it was their land and they were out numbered.
I think what the Europeans were doing, and how the Maori were treated, was wrong.

Nelson Mandela

WALT: To write a biography about a person I find inspirational

Nelson Mandela Biography

Nelson Mandela was a civil rights activist and went to jail for 20 years for supporting civil rights then came out and kept believing that i doesn’t matter if your skin is dark or light.

Nelson Mandela was born in 1917 in Transkie south africa  and is still alive.Nelson Mandela went to jail for 20 years for supporting human rights by saying it doesn't matter if your skin is darker you can still do anything anyone else does. his inspirational person was Gandi who walked right across India with a group of people who knew Indian people were being treated badly.

Nelson Mandela’s father was the chief Henry Mandela and he had three wives. he was born in 1880 and he died when Nelson was nine years old.
Zenani Nelson Mandela’s grand daughter was killed in a car crash on the way home from the 2010 Football World Cup opening ceremony in South Africa. This was a heart breaking time for him.He in inspired millions of people however I find Nelson Mandela very inspirational because he fought for what he believes in and went to prison for it and no matter what happened he kept trying to make a change to human rights and made a change. He was educated at the university of Witwatersand.

Nelson did not fight for this belief just because he wanted to become famous,he wanted to made a change towards human rights, however he still believes that human rights is the right way and yet not everything in South Africa has been changed to the way it should be. Gandi was why Nelson Mandela supported human rights.

I find Nelson Mandela inspirational because even though he went to prison for supporting  what he believes, he kept believing that if you’ve got darker skin you can still do anything and you have  all the rights everyone has and no one should never ever be told they can’t do things.
